Dato' Jimmy Ong Chin Keng

Dato’ Jimmy Ong Chin Keng was appointed to the Board on 16 February 1996. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a professional qualification from the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

He joined Emico Group in February 1993 as the Financial Controller, rose to the rank of Finance Director in 1996, and was re-designated as Managing Director on 23 January 2009. He was subsequently re-designated as Executive Director on 1 October 2019, and later as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director on 25 September 2022. On the same date, he was appointed as a member of the Audit and Risk Management, Nominating, and Remuneration Committees.

Dato’ Ong has extensive experience and knowledge in accounting, finance, corporate finance, manufacturing, and property development. Prior to joining Emico, he served at two international accounting firms—PwC and KPMG—for a total of 10 years.

He also serves on the Board of several private limited companies. Other than his appointment as Independent Non-Executive Director of YBS International Berhad, he is not a director of any other public company.

Dato’ Ong was elected President of the Lions Club of George Town (2013–2014) and has held various positions with Lions Clubs International, District 308B2. He was also elected Chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, Penang Branch from 2020 to 2021.

Dato’ Ong has no family relationship with any directors or major shareholders of the Company, and no conflict of interest with the Company.

He has not been convicted of any offence within the past 5 years and attended all five (5) Board meetings held during the financial year.
